The name Grec is derived from the main location of the event, the Greg theatre (or the Greek Theatre). The building was part of the world exhibition of 1929 and is a beautiful place. The festival presents national and international artists and gives them the opportunity to show their knowledge and abilities to a broad audience. As stated, the Grec Theatre is the main location of this festival, but most Barcelona theatres and other venues in town have their own activities and are also part of the festival program.
